Treatment Approach

I generally use a Cognitive-Behavioral approach to treatment. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a short-term, focused psychotherapy used for a wide range of Psychological problems, including depression, anxiety, anger, panic, fears, marital conflict, loneliness, and personality problems. The focus of therapy is on how you are thinking, behaving, and communicating rather than on your early childhood experiences. Research indicates that cognitive therapy is as or more effective than medication in the treatment of depression, anxiety, obsessions, and other fears–because patients learn self-help in therapy and do not have the negative side-effects of medications. When appropriate, psychological tests and/or inventories are given as well as suggested readings or behavioral tasks recommended.
